Physics says “Energy flows to the place of least resistance.” In yarn, this means that a thick area has more resistance than a thin area, so the twist energy goes to the thin area instead of evenly over the yarn. To fix this you can 1- draft more evenly, 2- untwist the thin overtwisted spot, 3- make the thick spots thinner to even out the twist, 4 - defy physics.
